Free Ticket Events
Not every event on CHI Tickets requires payment. Organizers can offer events with free tickets, making it easy for attendees to reserve a spot without entering any payment information.
How Free Events Work
Free events follow the same checkout flow as paid events, with one important difference: the payment step is skipped entirely. Since there is nothing to charge, you go directly from providing your contact information to the confirmation page.
The streamlined flow for a free event typically looks like this:
- Tickets — Select your ticket type and quantity.
- Add-Ons — If the event offers any add-ons (some free events do), select them here. Free events may have paid add-ons, in which case the payment step is reintroduced for the add-on cost only.
- Custom Questions — Answer any organizer-required questions.
- Contact Info — Provide your email address and phone number.
- Confirmation — Your reservation is confirmed immediately.
Selecting Free Tickets
On the event page, free tickets are displayed with a price of 0.00 in the event's configured currency, or may simply be labeled as "Free". You select them the same way you would select paid tickets — choose the ticket type and adjust the quantity.
Free ticket types can still have:
- Quantity limits — The organizer may restrict how many free tickets a single buyer can reserve.
- Limited availability — Free events can sell out just like paid ones. You may see a "Only X left!" warning when stock is low.
- Sold Out badges — When all free tickets have been claimed, the ticket type displays a Sold Out badge.
No Payment Information Required
Because there is no charge, CHI Tickets does not ask you to enter a credit card number, use Apple Pay, or use Google Pay for a fully free order. The checkout skips the payment step and immediately processes your reservation once you provide your contact details.
This means you can reserve free tickets in just a few taps, with no financial information required.
Confirmation for Free Events
After completing the reservation, you arrive at the same confirmation page as for paid events. You will see:
- A summary of the tickets you reserved, including ticket type and quantity.
- Your unique order reference number.
- A note that your tickets have been sent to the email address you provided.
Your confirmation email includes the same details and can be used to access your tickets.
Do Free Events Have Service Fees?
In most cases, fully free events do not include service fees. However, this depends on how the event organizer has configured the event. If a service fee is applicable, it will be clearly displayed in the order summary before you confirm your reservation.
Cancellation and Availability
Because free tickets do not involve a financial transaction, cancellation policies depend entirely on the event organizer. If you can no longer attend, check the event page or your confirmation email for instructions on how to release your ticket so someone else can claim it.
Free events with limited capacity can reach full reservation quickly. If you are interested in attending, it is a good idea to reserve your spot as soon as tickets become available.
Mixed Free and Paid Events
Some events offer a combination of free and paid ticket types. For example, general admission might be free while VIP requires payment. In this scenario:
- If you select only free tickets, the payment step is skipped.
- If you select any paid tickets (or paid add-ons), the payment step is included and you will need to provide payment information for the charged items.
Tip: Even though free events cost nothing, completing your reservation ensures you have a valid ticket with a QR code for entry. Do not skip the reservation process assuming you can walk in without a ticket.
