Create a New Event

Events are the foundation of everything in CHI. Here's how to create one in CHI Backstage.

Steps

1. Log in to CHI Backstage.
2. Click Events in the sidebar, then Create Event.
3. Fill in the basic details:
   • Event Name — The title displayed to attendees
   • Description — Tell people what the event is about (supports markdown)
   • Tagline — A summary shown in listings and previews
4. Set the date and time:
   • Start Date & Time — When the event begins
   • End Date & Time — When the event ends
   • Timezone — The timezone for the event location
5. Set up the venue:
   • Venue Name — The name of the location
   • City & Country — Where the event takes place
6. Configure event settings:
   • Event Type — Specify whether the event is indoor or outdoor
   • Currency — The currency for ticket prices and on-site payments (e.g., EUR, USD)
   • Maximum Capacity — The total number of attendees allowed
   • Visibility — Public (listed on CHI Tickets), Unlisted (direct link only), or Private (access code required)
7. Upload your media:
   • Cover Image — The main banner for your event page (recommended: 1920x1080)
   • Banner Image — A wider banner for the event listing
8. Click Save Draft to continue configuring, or Publish when ready.

Event Types

• Single-day Event — A one-time event with a fixed date
• Multi-day Event — Spanning multiple consecutive days (e.g., a festival)
• Recurring Event — Weekly or monthly events with shared settings

What Comes Next

After creating the event, you'll want to:

• Set up ticket types and pricing — configure different access levels and price tiers
• Configure payments — set up the payment provider and select the payment types that you support
• Configure vendors — onboard food, drink, and merchandise sellers
• Enable cashless payments — set up NFC wearables and QR code payments
• Create coupons — offer discounts and promotional codes
• Set up VIP tables — manage premium areas with table credits
• Configure check-in mode — QR scan, wearable tap, or manual entry
